OHL Industrial, rewarded by Codelco and BHP Billiton in Chile

June 3, 2015

The occupational safety and health policy of the OHL Industrial division has been rewarded in Chile by Codelco and BHP Billiton, companies for which it carries out operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks on two mining plants.

OHL Industrial has obtained a 100% score in the occupational health and safety evaluation of O&M activities carried out on the copper mineral crushing, curing and piling plant for the oxide project of División Ministro Hales (Codelco), in Antofagasta. The plant has 200 workers on staff and this is the first time OHL Industrial achieves this score since the contract commenced in July 2014. It is the maximum score granted by Codelco in term of contract reliability, and a milestone for OHL Industrial given the extremely demanding nature of its client and the criticality of security in the mining sector.

In addition to this reward, in December 2014 BHP Billiton granted an award for commitment and permanent leadership in health, safety and the environment, and for the productivity reached in the O&M of the rhyolite crushing plant in Minera Escondida, in the Atacama Desert (Chile), with 315 workers.

These awards confirm OHL Industrial’s position and commitment in safety matters and help provide more solid and reliable value to the company and its clients.
