OHL is awarded a new construction contract in Australia

The Department of Highways and Maritime Services of the Australian State of South New Wales has awarded OHL – in UTE at 50% with McConnell Dowell, an important Australian construction company – the contract to build a segment of the Pacific Highway between the towns of Kundabung and Kempsey, located in the North of the state.
The work has a total budget of 103.3 million Euro (150 million Australian dollars) and comprises the construction of 13.7 km of divided highway road and 6 km of local streets. The existing highway has a single carriageway with one lane per direction and the intention of the project is duplicating the existing carriageway to improve the traffic conditions.
Among the most outstanding project performances are the undertaking of four bridges and modification of another existing four, demolishing of structures, execution of important volumes of land movement and provision of rigid (concrete) and flexible (asphalt) sidewalk along the layout. Construction work will begin mid 2014, with an execution period of two years.
The will be jointly financed by South New Wales and the Australian state and is registered in the important investment plan launched by the Australian authorities to improve traffic capacity and road safety of the Pacific Highway. This is one of the most important highways of country, by connecting the cities of Sydney, in the State of South New Wales, and Brisbane, in the State of Queensland.
With this new contract in Australia, OHL is confirmed as a leading construction company in all five continents and strengthens its presence in the demanding Australian market.
