OHL is awarded a new Design-Build project in the USA for 65 million dollars

OHL continues to expand its project portfolio and consolidate its activity in the USA rail sector with the award of a new project to its New York subsidiary, Judlau Contracting, Inc., by MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), amounting to 65 million dollars (close to 60 million euros). The contract comprises, as a major milestone, the design and construction of the Elmont railway station (NYC), the first new Long Island Rail Road station in almost 50 years. The new station is part of the Belmont Park Redevelopment Project.
The scope of the project that OHL´s subsidiary will carry out includes the installation of north and south side platforms and a pedestrian overpass with elevators as well as various elements that comprise the station. These elements include canopies, stairs, ramps, lighting, machine / equipment rooms, and a portion of platform that spans over the active Cross Island Parkway. The new station will incorporate several sustainability elements, and will be ADA compliant.
The new station will enhance travel opportunities between New York City and Long Island, and serve the renowned Belmont Park Racetrack and the New York Islanders hockey team’s new arena.
