October 15, 2019
OHL, through its subsidiary SATO, has added new contracts in maritime infrastructure matters for an approximate awarded amount of 20 million Euros. The project involves constructing the new marina in the town of San Vicente de la Barquera in Cantabria, two projects to extend the Huelva and Vigo ports, and dredging activity in the port of Laxe (A Coruña).
In the municipality of San Vicente de la Barquera in Cantabria, SATO will undertake construction of the new marina to include, as its main activities, an area of floating pontoons measuring 61,439 m2, able to accommodate 272 leisure boats.
In the port of Huelva, the company will carry out the Project to Fit Out and Split the Access Road to the South Wharf. The work seeks to increase vehicular traffic capacity in the inner harbor, in response to greater commercial activity. The project also contemplates constructing a new multifunctional building and a ro-ro platform.
In Galicia in the Port of Vigo, it will execute the Project to Extend the Esplanade Annexed to Lonja del Berbés. As a result of this activity, a total of 8,300 m2 will be added to the current infrastructure. It will also build a wharf using prefabricated concrete blocks, 2 m wide and 1.5 m. high, between 5 and 7 meters long. To achieve this, 6,112 m3 of sediment will be withdrawn and used to totally level off the seabed.
Also in Galicia, the company will work on dredging the port of Laxe. The project focuses on dredging the sheltered area along an approximate surface area of 25,000 m2 up to a -5.00 level, with average power of 2 m and 87% in granitic rock.
OHL has long-term valuable experience in maritime infrastructures, where it totals more than 700 projects: 35 km in seawalls, wharfs of approximately 30 km and 1,000 concrete boxes.
