OHL joins the World Water Day
March 22, 2016
This 22 March, OHL has also celebrated the World Water Day, under the thought-provoking motto Water and jobs, on responsible management of this natural resource.
This initiative, launched by the United Nations, intends to highlight the essential role played by drinking water and encourage improvements for the world’s population suffering a water shortage. The European organization has announced this on its website: “Water is an essential component of life, beyond its necessity to quench thirst or to protect one’s health; water is vital for job creation and to back up economic, social and human development”.
OHL, committed to sustainability and environmental protection, operates at all times through a sustainable and integrated management of water resources, as reflected in the Group’s 2015-2020 CSR Master Plan. According to this Plan, since 2015 the company has been working on a Protocol to Calculate the Water Shortage Footprint, by defining its own methodology based on leading international standards of reference, e.g. ISO 14046 (environmental management, water footprint, principles, requirements and guidelines), the Water Footprint Network (WFN) and CEO Water Mandate.
