OHL reaches a new milestone in the Santiago Metro Line 3 extension
February 17, 2021
On February 16, the milestone corresponding to the meeting point of the tunnels between the EFE Station and the Frei Montalva shaft was met ahead of schedule – These works are being executed by OHL Agencia in Chile and are part of Section “A” of the Santiago Metro Line 3 Extension Works.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Ms. Gloria Hutt, together with the Minister of Finance, Mr. Rodrigo Cerda; the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Alfredo Moreno; the President of Metro, Mr. Louis de Grange; the President of EFE, Mr. Pedro Pablo Errázuriz; and the Mayor of the Municipality of Quilicura, Mr. Juan Carrasco.
The project, which is part of the plan to expand the metro network to improve urban transport in the city, includes, among other works, the construction of shafts and galleries, tunnels and stations along an extension of more than 700 meters.
Prior to these works, the company carried out on the same metro line shaft, gallery and tunneling civil works, both for stations and inter-stations, in sections 5 and 6, with a combined length of 7 kilometers, in addition to other shaft and gallery civil works in sections 1 and 2, as well as reinforcement shafts at Franklin Station, which combines the current line 2 with line 6 – a technical and constructive challenge, since it is the first subway station in Chile to be built under another station in service.
