OHL receives the “100 Best Ideas of the Year” award for the innovation applied in Lake Owens (California)

OHL has seen its commitment to innovation and sustainability recognized with the award for the “100 Best Ideas of the Year” which the Actualidad Económica magazine gives every year to the most original initiatives in each sector. On this occasion, the project of “Uniform extender of coarse aggregates and installation system of trenchless sub-drainages”, used by OHL in the restoration of Lake Owens in California (USA) has been selected as one of the “100 Best Ideas of the Year” in the 40th edition of these awards in the category of sustainability.
The awards ceremony took place on May 22 at the Hotel Wellington in Madrid. Alejandro Vizcaino, Technical Director of OHL Construcción and Miguel Américo, Manager of RDI and Innovation received the award in representation of OHL and on behalf of the persons responsible for this initiative, Héctor del Río, Russ Thorp y Ayaz Uddin, from the Lake Owens project who were unable to travel from California to receive the award.
This award recognizes the innovation that OHL is carrying out in the Lake Owens restoration project in California (USA), where work is being performed to mitigate dust by way of extending a superficial layer of coarse aggregates. To execute said extension, the OHL work team works to adapt the transportation belts and, especially the “slinger” of its equipment as per the requirements of the abrasive coarse aggregates necessary in the project, without prejudice to the surrounding of great ecological value.
