OHL sponsoring ice sports at Sochi 2014
January 14, 2014
OHL and the Spanish Ice Sports Federation (Federación Española de Deportes de Hielo – FEDH) have entered into an agreement whereby the Group will help strengthen ice sports in 2014 and, especially, at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics held between 7 and 23 February.
This agreement was signed during a formal event in the ceremony hall at the headquarters of the National Sports Council in attendance of its president, the Secretary of State for Sport, Miguel Cardenal.
The signatories Luis García-Linares, the Group’s general corporate director and chairman of OHL Services, and Maria Teresa Samaranch, president of the Federation, have ushered in OHL’s sponsorship of ice skating and skeleton.
During his speech, Luis García-Linares underscored the importance of the prominent values in the sport: effort, drive to succeed, sacrifice, healthy competition, passionate work ethic and honesty; values that we share at the OHL Group.
Spain will send four ice skaters to Sochi 2014, namely Javier Fernández, current world bronze medalist and European champion, Javier Raya and the dance couple Sara Hurtado and Adrià Díaz. Meanwhile, skeleton pilots Ander Mirambell and María Montejano have been striving through 19 January to classify for the Olympics at the World and Intercontinental Cup matches.
