March 21, 2012
OHL has been the exclusive sponsor of the European Environmental Prizes to Companies it grants every two years, in the Spanish Section, Entorno-BCSD España Foundation, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, for companies that prove a firm commitment to sustainable development.
At the Higher Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) in Madrid, on Thursday, 8 March, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias presided the award act. The 2011-2012 call for European Environmental Prizes to Companies received a total of 112 candidatures in its four categories, slightly more than in the last edition. As a novelty, this edition has awarded prizes separately in each category to large companies and to small and medium-size companies.
The event gathered Emilio Lora-Tamayo, president of CSIC, Javier Salas, president of Entorno Foundation, Cristina García-Orcoyen, administrator-manager of Entorno Foundation and president of the prize jury, Fernando Martí, State Secretary for Energy, and Luis García-Linares, general corporate manager of OHL.
OHL, which was the first construction company in the previous edition to receive a European Environmental Prize in the Sustainable Development Process category for its Underwater Pipeline in Berria (Cantabria), has collaborated in order to strengthen its commitment to all sustainable development activities.
