May 27, 2014
For fourth consecutive year, OHL has been the exclusive sponsor of the Rey de España International Journalism Prizes, which has reached its XXXI edition this year. The award ceremony was held on May 27 in the Casa del Lector, in Madrid and was presided by the kings Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia.
The monarch delivered the awards to journalists of seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, USA, Mexico and Nicaragua), for their investigative work and human interest stories. Don Juan Carlos congratulated the recipients, whose tasks, he said, “are not only key to inform the citizens, but also contribute to strengthen coexistence and democracy in our societies.”
The Kings were also accompanied by the Vice-President of the Government, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria; by the Secretary of State of International Cooperation and for Latin America, Jesus Garcia; by the President of the EFE, Jose Antonio Vera, and by Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, president of OHL.
These awards, presented by the EFE Agency and the Spanish International Cooperation Agency since 1983, honor press, radio, television, photography and digital journalism professionals in the Spanish and Portuguese language.
They are presented in six categories: press, photography, radio, television, digital journalism and environmental journalism, each of them provided with 6,000 Euro and a sculpture by the artist Joaquin Vaquero Turcios.
