OHL, the first construction company rewarded by MAGRAMA with the “CALCULATE, REDUCE and COMPENSATE” seal
March 7, 2016
The OHL Group has registered itself in the carbon print compensation section of the Carbon Print, Compensation and Carbon Dioxide Absorption Project Register, promoted by the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC, by its Spanish acronym) ascribed to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment (MAGRAMA).
This adhesion has been included in the Registry’s registered carbon prints and emission reduction commitments, and has enabled the OHL Group to become the first company in the construction sector and one of the first in Spain to obtain the right to use the comprehensive “CALCULATE, REDUCE and COMPENSATE” seal granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, to reward corporate effort in carbon print matters, in accordance with Royal Decree 163/2014, of 14 March, creating the Carbon Print, Compensation and Carbon Dioxide Absorption Project Register.
This new registration, voluntarily requested by OHL, is in line with the Group’s Commitment in Energy and Climate Change, defining its strategic lines in order to progress towards a low-carbon economy.
The new seal will contribute high added-value to the OHL Group, vis-à-vis those clients that include sustainability in their business model, by providing additional information in any sections on the environment, or in relation to energy and climate change requirements. Of interest in this regard is that Article 10 of Royal Decree 163/2014 refers to carbon print considerations in public procurement.
