September 12, 2019
OHL has been awarded a new photovoltaic project valued at 70 million euro in Chile. The contract includes the construction of the photovoltaic plant “La Huella” which will have an installed power of 89 megawatts (MW) and will serve the region of Coquimbo, in the north of the country.
The contract was awarded by Clean Capital Energy, a photovoltaic investment company based in Austria, which operates in five European countries with a total installed capacity of more than 800 MW, and with projects under development worldwide of more than 1.6 GW.
The contract covers engineering, construction, commissioning and subsequent operation and maintenance. In addition, work related to the electrical interconnection of the plant with the Transmission Grid and Chile’s National Electric System will be addressed and the long-term operation and maintenance of the plant will be carried out.
Renewable projects in the Americas, Europe and Asia
With this project, OHL adds a new EPC contract in the renewable energy sector, where it has carried out activities over the last eight years that add up to a total installed power of more than 650 MW, in different technologies, and in countries such as the USA, Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, Italy and Jordan.
In the last year, the company has been awarded renewable energy projects of nearly 300 MW in Chile, Spain and Mexico. These include the 120 MW Perote photovoltaic plant in Mexico for the company X-Elio, and the 37 MW and 50 MW, respectively, photovoltaic plants in Aguascalientes in Mexico and Zafra in Spain for the company OPDEnergy. Both X-Elio and OPDEnergy are two of the leading Spanish companies in the renewable energy sector.
