OHL to build the new university hospital in Cuenca

The OHL Group has been awared a contract to build the new University Hospital in Cuenca, budgeted at 129.12 million euro, an amount which makes this project one of the leading civil works projects in the history of Cuenca.
The new hospital is part of the Castilla-La Mancha government programme for the extension and improvement of health infrastructure network. With a 50 % interest, OHL leads the winning joint venture, which also includes two local companies.
With a gross surface area of approximately 98,000 m2,covering seven floors and health facilities and situated on a plot of about 190,000 m2, the new hospital will replace the Virgen de la Luz Hospital in 48 months and will be equipped with the most modern facilities for hospital treatment.
The hospital will have 15 operating rooms, 12 in the surgical ward, and the rest an obstetrics ward, and 391 hospital beds, distributed among 235 singles and 78 doubles. Similarly, the new University Hospital will provide Rehabilitation, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, Oncology, Nephrology and a Laboratory, among others, as well as a heliport.
There will also be an outpatient clinic with 193 examination rooms and offices, a Major Ambulatory Surgery Unit and recovery area, as well as a Day Hospitals and Oncohematology Unit. An Adult Intensive Care Unit will be created in the inpatient area. The emergency area will have 52 boxes and, as a university hospital, will also have teaching and research areas and a library.
