OHL USA, Inc. ranks among the Top 20 Transportation and Domestic Heavy Contractors by ENR

OHL USA, Inc., the North American subsidiary of OHL, has placed among the top 20 companies in the prestigious Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine´s rankings of Transportation and Top Domestic Heavy Contractors. These rankings are included in the ENR 2019 Top 400 Contractors list, in which OHL USA ranks 77th, with revenues of 1.1 billion dollars (958.7 million euros).

In particular, OHL USA, Inc. has placed 15th among Top Domestic Heavy Contractors, with revenue of 973.6 million dollars (858.7 million euros), essentially generated in the areas of transportation (81%) and water and sewer (9%). In the Top 20 Contractors by Sector, OHL USA ranks 18th in Transportation, a reflection of its strong presence and performance in this area in major geographies across the USA.

In addition, OHL’s subsidiary ranks 76th among the U.S. contractors that obtained the largest number of new contracts in 2018, with an order backlog worth 1.2 billion dollars (1.1 billion euros approximately).

Awards in the USA

Also in the USA, Judlau Contracting, Inc. (a subsidiary of OHL) was recently named “ENR New York’s 2019 Contractor of the Year” by ENR New York for its “notable accomplishments”, including the Canarsie Tunnel rehabilitation, the Throgs Neck Bridge project, the Riverside Drive Viaduct rehabilitation, the Enhanced Stations Initiative, and the Queens Midtown Tunnel rehabilitation project. This award follows recognition by the New Jersey Alliance For Action for Judlau’s work on the George Washington Bridge (GWB) Helix Replacement Project. The GWB is the world’s busiest motor vehicle bridge, connecting New York and New Jersey, and has been an architectural icon for over 85 years.

Furthermore, the Design-Build Interstate 75 Express Lanes, Miramar and Miami project, executed in Florida by OHL USA and Community Asphalt Corp., won the Merit Award, Highway and Bridge category, in the 2019 Project of the Year Awards, organized by ENR Southeast

OHL is present in the USA since 2006 and, in addition to OHL USA and Judlau, the OHL Group’s companies in the country include Community Asphalt Corp., OHL Arellano Construction Co. and OHL Building Inc. Through these companies, the Group is active in California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

Among the projects performed in the country, of particular note is the improvement of highway I-405 from State Route 73 to Interstate 605, with a budget of 1.2 billion dollars (1.1 billion euros approximately), the single largest project in the company’s history in the USA. In addition, the Group has built or rehabilitated stations for the New York City Subway System, constructed an innovation center at Miami Dade College, performed civil work at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, and is currently working on the replacement of the sewage outlet pipe of the Bergen Point wastewater treatment plant in Babylon, OHL’s first project on Long Island.
