OHL Volunteers celebrate their tenth birthday with a day-long corporate volunteering event
November 6, 2017
OHL Volunteers celebrated their tenth birthday with a day-long corporate volunteering event attended by close to 200 people between OHL Group employees, their families and members of Down Madrid, Fundación Aprocor and Fundación Prodis.
The event, held in Madrid and arranged around a number of recreational activities and workshops, served as the framework for presenting recognitions to a number of employees, associations and foundations who have collaborated with OHL Volunteers in the course of these ten years.
Fundación Integra, Fundación Konecta, Down Madrid and Fundación Adecco received awards for their involvement, support and commitment to the implementation of the company’s community involvement projects. As OHL´s employee, Luis Merlo also received recognition for his work as a volunteer since the creation of Volunteers OHL. In 2007, he promoted the Soccer for Equality Tournament, a day-long recreational-sports event shared with people with intellectual disabilities that became the company’s first corporate volunteering activity and which, since then, has been held yearly.
The OHL Volunteers program is an initiative articulated through the Group’s Corporate Community Involvement Plan and its Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, in which close to 6,500 employees have participated in a joint effort with 150 entities over these years. Together they have launched more than 150 initiatives, benefitting more than 20,000 people.
