OHL will widen the Interstate Highway 35 East in Texas for 150 million euros

The OHL Group, through its subsidiary OHL USA, has been awarded two contracts in Texas to expand the Interstate Highway 35 East, for approximately 150 million euros (160 million USD). These projects, awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation, seek to improve mobility in one of the state’s most congested highways located near the town of Waxahachie, 80 kilometers south of Dallas Texas, USA.

The first contract valued at 116 million euros (126 million USD), will involve expanding nearly 18 kilometers Interstate Highway 35 East, from US-77 intersection on the south end up to the intersection of US 77 on the northern side. The work will expand the lanes from four to six, completely reconstructing seven existing bridges and rehabilitating five other bridges. The project will be performed with minimal impact on local traffic.

The second project awarded to OHL, for 32 million euros (35 million USD), will expand the Interstate Highway 35 East, south of the FM 566 up to the US 77, south of Waxahachie. This project ties into the first project to construct a total of 40 kilometers of roadway.

With these awards, OHL has consolidated its foothold in Texas, where it has been present since 2013, with contracts such as the comprehensive rehabilitation of 3.3 kilometers section of the US 290 highway in Houston, Texas as well as a project in the Dallas, Texas area to expand State Highway 121 with the construction of a four-lane bridge over the Interstate Highway 35 which is one of the main corridors between USA and Mexico. These projects were also awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation.
