As part of its commitment to the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative to support the decarbonization of the economy

OHLA aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46% and Scope 3 emissions by 55% by 2031

September 28, 2023

In line with the decarbonization roadmap set out in its 2022-2024 Sustainability Plan, OHLA announced at the end of 2022 its commitment to the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, a joint project of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and WWF that helps companies develop strategies to address climate change. The goal of this initiative is to accelerate corporate action to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Specifically, OHLA is committed to setting short-term emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. On the one hand, it aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46.2 % by 2031 compared to the base year 2021. In addition, it is committed to reducing scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, and waste by 55% concerning the million euros of operating profit for the same period.

SBTi has approved these near-term emissions reduction targets, thereby validating the company’s reduction ambitions in line with the latest climate science. This major milestone sets the starting point for all the work ahead for the company to be part of the shift to a decarbonized global economy.
