The plant stands out for its use of several innovations such as bifacial module technology, which improves the efficiency of energy production, as well as an automated system for cleaning the solar panels, which is more sustainable thanks to the use of robots that do not require water.
Support for local employment and biodiversity
OHLA has contributed directly to the generation of employment, as well as to the development and revitalization of the environment in which the plant is located. Specifically, during the construction process it has created partnerships with nearby municipalities by making more than 150 jobs available to residents of the local communities.
As part of its commitment to the environment and the protection of biodiversity, the company has promoted several actions such as the rescue plan for wildlife specimens that were found at the plant’s facilities and were handed over to the Animal Rescue Center (CREA of the Universidad de Antofagasta).
Also noteworthy is the initiative to donate wood and iron from the dismantling of large coils to the school for young people with special educational needs at the F-33 special school in the municipality of Calama.
More than 1,300 MW managed in clean energies
OHLA has more than 25 renewable energy projects in its portfolio in Europe, the Americas and Asia. In total, they add up to an installed capacity of more than 1,300 MW, which would supply approximately 500,000 homes per year.
In Chile, a country in which it has been present for more than 40 years, in addition to the La Coya solar farm, it has carried out important contracts such as the La Huella photovoltaic facility (87 MW) and the La Estrella wind farm (50 MW).
In Spain, where it manages more than 800 MW, the company was recently awarded the construction of a 130 MW photovoltaic plant in Badajoz. At the same time, it is progressing in the execution of four projects that, together, add more than 400 MW to its renewable portfolio.
