OHLA expands its international project portfolio with a new contract in the Czech Republic for a total amount of 100.8 million euros. The company, which has been operating in the country for two decades, will carry out the reconstruction of the double line of the Adamov-Blansko section, part of the corridor linking the cities of Brno and Prague in South Moravia, in a joint venture through its subsidiary OHL ŽS.
The contract was assigned by Správa železnic, national rail infrastructure manager in the Czech Republic, for whom this project awarded to OHLA will be one of the largest announced this year. The reconstruction of the Adamov-Blansko section pursues several objectives, including ensuring the elimination of speed drops, increasing the safety and reliability of operation, ensuring barrier-free access, guaranteeing interoperability parameters, as well as the requirements of the applicable legislation.
The project involves the construction of one stop in Adamov, three double track tunnels with lengths of 105m, 326m and 101m, and two single track tunnels of 497m and 557m. It will also include a railway superstructure and substructure, platforms, bridges, culverts, tunnels, noise walls, roads, buildings for technological allocation, acoustic screens, traction lines and the stabilization of rock slopes. Moreover, the project also entails the modernization of security and communication systems, together with heavy-current equipment.
This new contract in the Czech Republic follows other relevant tenders that OHLA group has carried out in recent years throughout Eastern Europe. Since OHLA started its activity in the Czech Republic in 2003, the group has carried out several projects in the fields of civil engineering and singular and hospital construction, including the optimization of the railway track between the cities of Plzeň and Stříbro and the tunnels of Královo Pole, located in Brno; the rehabilitation of the National Theater in Prague, as well as the construction of the new pavilion for the Emergency Department of the Hospital of České Budejovice.
