OHLA has renewed its adherence to the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative IEEB and the Diversity Pact, of which it has been a member since 2015. The signing, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge through the Biodiversity Foundation, means that the company has subscribed to a series of principles that would position it among the relevant organizations in this area and also with regard to natural capital.

This membership also confirms OHLA’s support for the United Nations-sponsored Kunming-Montreal Agreement, whose main objective is to safeguard and sustainably use biodiversity. Thus, the company assumes through this signature and under the Assessment option, the commitment to identify and disseminate, over the next two years, the most relevant impacts and dependencies on biodiversity and natural capital, derived from its construction activity.

The protection of ecosystems and biodiversity are material aspects included in the company’s Sustainability Plan. For this reason, OHLA works, from the beginning of the projects until their completion, to avoid, reduce and mitigate the potential effects that its activity may generate and to stop the imbalance of the ecosystems.

The company also has an environmental management strategy committed to the responsible use of natural resources, the circular economy, the protection and conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change, certified annually by a third party in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard.
