OHLA, a global infrastructure group, will be in charge of carrying out the construction works of the La Nueva Romareda football stadium in Zaragoza. This historic football stadium, home of Real Zaragoza, will be one of the host cities for the 2030 Football World Cup to be held in Spain.

Within the project, OHLA has not only submitted the best economic proposal, it also obtained the highest score in the technical evaluation. In addition, the Group’s project (in a joint venture with Altuna and Uria) reduces the initially planned deadlines by 13 weeks, meaning that the works will be completed in June 2027. The final budget for the project amounts to 124.5 million euros.

The works in La Nueva Romareda include demolition, construction and remodelling of the stadium as a whole. Currently, the company is already involved in the demolition works of the Fondo Sur.

The construction of the Fondo Sur will begin in February 2025, while work on the rest of the stadium will start after the end of the 2024-2025 season, presumably in June.

Throughout its more than 110 years of history, OHLA has been involved in major developments in the field of sports infrastructure. In 2014, the Group built the Municipal Stadium in Białystok (Poland), an infrastructure with a usable surface area of more than 24,000 square metres and a capacity for more than 22,500 spectators.

Recently, the company has also participated in the construction of the Košická futbalová arena (Slovakia) and the El Salvador sports centre (Peru), the venue for the 2019 Pan American Games.

In the past, the company has participated in the development of important places, such as the Santiago Bernabéu (Madrid), Camp Nou (Barcelona) and the Carlos Tartiere Stadium (Oviedo).

La Romareda is one of the most emblematic football stadiums in Spain. Since its inauguration in 1957, it has hosted major events, such as the 1982 World Cup in Spain.
