This collaborative initiative uses Progressive Design-Build, an innovative and lower-risk procurement model to accelerate project delivery.

OHLA USA, Inc., in a joint venture with Prince Contracting, LLC, a part of the ACS Group, is collaborating with its client Florida Department of Transportation, and designer WSP to begin the planning and design phase of a major infrastructure project. This initiative aims to widen and improve I-95 in Broward County while enhancing connectivity at the SW 10th Street and Hillsboro Boulevard interchanges.  The project’s estimated value is $933 million.

Spanning approximately four miles, the project will introduce reconfigured interchanges, new flyover ramps, and enhanced entrance and exit ramps. A key component is the transformation of SW 10th Street, including two distinct roadways. The SW 10th Street connector lanes will link the Sawgrass Expressway with I-95, easing congestion and improving regional mobility. Additionally, a separate procurement will develop local SW 10th Street into a “Complete Street,” featuring a shared-use path and improved connectivity to properties and the surrounding roadway network. Together, these upgrades will enhance traffic flow, safety, and emergency evacuation routes.

Expanding OHLA USA’s Presence in Florida

OHLA USA’s Southeast Civil division has successfully delivered numerous infrastructure projects, playing an important role in enhancing the region’s transportation network. Recent notable projects include the completion of runway demolition and repaving at Miami’s Opa Locka Executive Airport, which beat the project budget and schedule. The company also reconstructed and resurfaced several miles of County Road 721 for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, supporting increased traffic flow for the grand opening of the new Seminole Casino at Brighton Reservation. This project, delivered using Progressive Design-Build, was completed in under eight months.

OHLA Building, the company’s vertical construction entity, is performing a $228 million design-build contract for the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR) Master Plan Replacement Jail Site 1 Training and Treatment Center. The project includes a three-story Booking and Release Center with four courtrooms and dormitory-style holding cells, as well as a four-story headquarters for MDCR’s administrative offices. Additionally, the same entity is overseeing the construction of a seven-story luxury apartment building at 1155 100th Street in Bay Harbor Islands, Miami-Dade County, featuring 45 high-end residences with modern amenities.
