OHL’s Board of Directors appoints the new Chairman, Vice-Chairpersons and CEO of the Group

OHL’s Board of Directors, which convened today, has unanimously agreed further to a proposal from the Appointments & Remuneration Committee to appoint Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes chairman of OHL; Silvia Villar-Mir de Fuentes as the first vice-chairperson, and Tomás García Madrid, second vice-chairman and CEO, with responsibility for all the corporate areas and five operative divisions of the OHL Group: Concessions, Construction, Industrial, Development and Services.
Juan-Miguel Villar Mir has resigned from his position in the company’s Board of Directors and Josep Piqué has submitted his resignation as second vice-chairman and CEO of Engineering & Construction (I&C). Josep Piqué has commenced a new stage after professionalizing OHL’s management with a view to the company’s succession process, which has culminated with the new chairmanship of Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes.
Furthermore, OHL’s Board of Directors has unanimously appointed as proprietary directors, further to a proposal from the Villar Mir Group and a favorable report from the Appointments & Remunerations Committee, Manuel Garrido y Ruano, Civil Engineer and Head of Planning & Finance of the Villar Mir Group, and Juan Antonio Santamera Sánchez, president of the Association of Civil Engineers.
OHL Group’s new CEO, Tomás García Madrid, who is 53, has gathered broad experience thanks to his 20-year career in the Group. Since 1996, he has belonged to OHL’s Board of Directors and to its Auditing, Compliance & CSR Committee. Furthermore, he belongs to the Board of Directors of OHL México and Abertis Infraestructuras.
Tomás García Madrid holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid- obtaining the highest score in his graduate year- and an MBA from IESE. Following a short stay in the top-level consultancy level, he joined the Villar Mir Group in 1991, a position he is now leaving in order to work full-time in his new position as CEO of the OHL Group.
