Positive results obtained in 2015 by OHL Concesiones thanks to Mexico
March 1, 2016
OHL Concesiones has ended the 2015 financial year with outstanding results in operating terms. Its positive conduct, based on a positive trend in traffic rates and toll fees in its Mexican concessions, has continued to boost the results obtained by the OHL Group, contributing 85% of its total EBITDA.
The company, whose results were presented by Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes, indicate great progress in its business, with growth rates respectively of 20.7% and 33.6%, in concession revenues and toll EBITDA. Concession activity has generally improved in all those countries where OHL Concesiones is present, registering a 10% increase in average daily traffic. In this content, Mexico again holds a prominent position with a 10-22% increase.
This good operating progress has taken place during a sharp fall in inflation rates in Mexico- 2.1% in 2015 over 4.1% in 2014- consequently reducing OHL México’s contribution in terms of EBITDA-secured IRR. This notwithstanding, sales in OHL Concesiones have increased 20.5% until reaching 445 million euros, and EBITDA fell by just 1%, down to 819.8 million euros.
On 28 January 2016, in relation to business development, the Metropolitan Council of Lima (Peru) approved the award of the Conexión La Molina-Angamos private initiative (IP). Likewise, a second inter-city toll road IP, also launched by the division, had already been declared a priority by the Government of Peru. With this new award, OHL Concesiones is now directly managing a portfolio of 20 concessions: 14 toll roads (962 km long), 1 airport, 3 ports and 2 railway concessions.
Furthermore, OHL Concesiones has continued its examination of new projects; at the end of the year, its business development portfolio totaled more than 18 projects under study, with an expected investment of 9,500 million euros, basically in the highway, port and railway sectors in Canada, U.S.A., Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile. These projects include two private initiatives in Peru (one of which is cited above and already awarded) and a pre-classification for the Philadelphia port project.
OHL Concesiones’s management experience, along with the technological developments launched by the Tráfico y Transporte Sistemas subsidiary, have reinforced the range of outsourced services and technological tools that contribute intelligence to investment performance, infrastructure use parameters and service levels.
