May 25, 2022
The Torc Housing Partnership consortium, of which OHLA is a member, has been honored at the Partnership Awards 2022 in the Best Social Infrastructure Project category for the Social Housing Bundle 2 (SHB2) sustainable social housing project in Ireland. These global awards recognize the best public-private collaboration initiatives in the construction sector. The projects distinguished with this award are evaluated by a group of international experts.
The SHB2 initiative, developed under a public-private partnership, comprises the construction and maintenance, over 25 years, of 465 new sustainable social housing units – 110 flats and 355 houses – with an investment of more than €130 million. The project is the Government’s second social housing investment package in the region and covers the counties of Cork, Kildare, Clare, Galway, Waterford and Roscommon.
This is the first contract of this nature to be awarded to OHLA in the promotion of concessions field and its development is being carried out using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology and Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) criteria, in accordance with the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (2010/31/EC).
In the field of residential construction, OHLA has also built the National Forensic Mental Health Hospital (Portrane, Dublin) in Ireland. Completed in 2021, it is a hospital complex comprising ten buildings and 24,000 m2 of floor space that provides mental health care services for children and adolescents, care for the intellectually disabled, intensive care, primary care and rehabilitation therapy.
