The Four Seasons in Canalejas is set to include works representative of emerging Spanish art
August 17, 2017
The Four Seasons Hotel, located in Centro Canalejas Madrid and scheduled to open its doors in 2019, will include in its decoration a selection of works created by emerging artists that will be on display permanently and will serve to show the different artistic trends being developed at the present time in our country, in the fields of engraving, photography, painting, sculpture and works in relief.
The works on display are the winning entries in the two editions of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid Visual Arts Competition, held in 2016 and 2017 and promoted by Centro Canalejas Madrid in conjunction with the School of Fine Arts of the Complutense University, with the aim of furthering and supporting Spain’s emerging art. The works selected in future editions of this competition will be added to those already included in the decoration of the hotel.
Centro Canalejas Madrid is located where Alcalá Street, Sevilla Street, Plaza de Canalejas and Carrera de San Jerónimo come together in Spain’s capital. It is an historic building that combines a number of architectural and decorative styles from the first third of the twentieth century.
The building, in which energy efficiency techniques have been applied, will have LEED Gold certification, accredited by the US Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), an independent certification program and point of reference determining the environmental performance of buildings. LEED Gold certification ensures the greater efficiency and sustainability of a building, as it gives particular attention to assessing energy savings and the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
