The Minister of infrastructure of Sweden places the first stone for the construction of the railway line between Lund and Arlöv
November 21, 2017
The Minister of Infrastructure of Sweden, Tomas Eneroth, presided over the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the 8 km stretch between the Swedish cities Arlöv and Flackarp, which will be built by OHL in a 50% joint venture with NNC, a leading company in the construction and infrastructure sector in Northern Europe.
During his speech, the minister declared that with this project “not only do we eliminate the current congestion on the railway lines, we are also building the future of the railroad”.
OHL’s first project in Sweden
With this contract, awarded by Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration) for 215 million euro, OHL begins its journey in Sweden.
The project includes the construction in parallel to the existing 5 km line of two temporary railway lines through which the railway traffic will flow during construction. The project calls for four roads instead of the two existing ones. To do this, a recess will be made up to six meters deep over 5 of the 8 km of the route, including a 400 meter underground section close to the Akarp station.
The contract also contemplates the construction of three new stations in Burlöv, Akarp and Hjärup, four overpasses and two underpasses, as well as three passages under the country’s most important road (E6/E20) and its extension to three lanes in each direction.
Fourth from the left, Ignacio Botella, CEO of OHL’s Engineering and Construction Division, was present during the event in Malmö (Sweden).
