The OHL Group award two new contracts in Florida to the sum of 31 million euros

The OHL group has awarded two contracts in Florida (USA) with a joint budget amounting to 31 million euros, which will be executed by OHL Arellano.
The most significant, totalling 20.7 million euros, is the construction of the Mango Building in the Florida International University, which OHL have proposed to develop as a green project, opting for the silver LEED certification.
This 8,175 m², multi-use building shall offer students and teaching staff a multi-functional space to support research and the search for new knowledge.
It shall house offices, private study rooms for post-graduates and for the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) professional programme, study and work spaces for the International Business and Research Centre, as well as two functional classrooms with eight common rooms. It shall also contain 64 private offices for university staff, two training classrooms, five meeting rooms, a recording studio, a 150 person capacity laboratory and a multimedia classroom.
On the other hand, with a budget of 10.2 million euros, OHL Arellano shall undertake the MAR-Stuart project, in the Stuart area of Florida, for the installation of the first luxury car dealership in Martin County.
The project, which began in October 2012, is being developed on a 52,609m² plot of land and at first, shall consist of two separate spaces, with a joint surface area of 5,575 m². OHL Arello shall be responsible for the construction, as well as for the infrastructures required for storm and fire protection and for the health and electrical systems of the building. Furthermore, it shall prepare the land for a third, short-term building.
Florida International University
The OHL maintains close links with the Florida International University (FIU). In 2012, it joined forces with the FIU Engineering and Computing Faculty to create the OHL School of Construction, the first in the history of this university to take the name of a company.
