The OHL Group is promoting two infrastructure investment projects that exceed 920 million euros in Peru
November 5, 2015
The OHL Group, through its concessions division, has promoted two private initiatives (PIs) in Peru for an overall amount exceeding 920 million euros (1,000 million USD), to develop and improve two new transport infrastructures in the country. Furthermore, the concessions division is examining other transport infrastructure projects, to include Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4, currently being tendered by the Peruvian Public Administration.
Specifically, in the city of Lima, OHL Concesiones has promoted the La Molina-Angamos Connection initiative, declared to be of public interest by the Metropolitan Council of the capital city of Peru. The project proposes an urban highway 12 km long, covering the capital’s main service and business areas. With an investment exceeding 460 million euros (500 million USD), the new infrastructure will be constructed below and above ground along nearly its entire route, combining tunnels and half-roofed and open ditches.
Furthermore, in south Peru, OHL Concesiones has presented a second self-sustainable private initiative, the Panamericana Sur, Ica-Quilca Section private initiative, for approximately 460 million euros (500 million USD), already granted priority by the Peruvian Government. The Panamericana is Peru’s most important road axis, covering its various regions and linking the country’s largest cities. Specifically, its territorial scope will cover the departments of Ica and Arequipa.
At present, the south section of this communication axis, along most of its route, bears the traffic of heavy vehicles through populated centers, and its traffic conditions need to be improved. The proposal foresees a highway approximately 518 km long.
These investments are in addition to the more than 370 million euros under management by OHL Concesiones in Red Vial 4 Toll Road which, 356 km long, links the cities of Pativilca and Trujillo as part of the Panamericana Norte, the main communication artery along the Peruvian coast.
Engineering and construction contracts
In construction matters, the OHL Group has contracts totaling more than 510 million euros, including the Las Bambas mining project, rehabilitation and improvement of the Ayacucho-Abancay Section VII road, or the rehabilitation and improvement of the Andahuaylas-Pampachiri-Negromayo road, along its Andahuaylas-Huancabamba section.
In turn, the OHL Industrial division, which is examining new projects in Peru, has executed important contracts in the country for approximately 125 million euros. The most important ones include the Gas Fracking Plant in Pisco and several mining projects, covering EPC and O&M.
Peru is one of OHL’s home markets, along with Canada, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Spain and the Czech Republic. The Group has been developing infrastructure projects in Peru since 1999.
