The Villar Mir Group and OHL participate in a breakfast talk with the United Kingdom Ambassador in Spain, Giles Paxman

The Villar Mir Group and the OHL Group have jointly sponsored a breakfast talk with the United Kingdom Ambassador in Spain, Giles Paxman. The event, arranged by Executive Forum España, gathered relevant personalities in the institutional and business field.

Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes briefly introduced the Ambassador, highlighting his great “personal and professional” value. He also referred to the outstanding work carried out by Giles Paxman who, following his studies at Oxford University, began working at 23 years of age as a civil servant and then embarked on a career in the Real Estate Services Agency and Sports Policy Division of the Ministry of the Environment.

The Vice President of the Villar Mir Group and the OHL Group indicated that his professional career has to a large extent involved an analysis of European affairs although, he pointed out, the Ambassador “has always had a huge interest in environmental issues”. He also mentioned that his service to the U.K. reached its peak in 2005 when, after acting as Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission in Paris, he was appointed as His Majesty’s Ambassador in Mexico City and, subsequently in 2009, as His Majesty’s Ambassador in Spain.

Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes pointed out his contribution towards the solid link between Spain and the United Kingdom that has materialised, amongst others, in the nearly 14 million British tourists who visited Spain last year.

To end, the Vice President of the Villar Mir Group referred to the great “honour and satisfaction” obtained from accommodating the United Kingdom Embassy in Spain in Torre Espacio, the Group’s corporate headquarters, since 2009.
