Civil Engineering week 2011. Engineering comes closer the citizens of Madrid

Civil Engineering week is to be held in the region of Madrid held from 7 to 13 March. A pioneering initiative in Spain that will bring the work of engineers closer to society and their contribution to the development of cities.

The opening ceremony will be attended by relevant professionals from the sector. In addition, Civil Engineering Week will bring civil works closer to Madrid society with an ample circuit of guided tours. There will be more than twenty projects under construction and of historical heritage of the Community of Madrid being shown for free.

The exhibition “Public works that have changed our life” will show a selection of the civil works that are most representative of the history of the Community of Madrid and have advanced the quality of life of its citizens. It will be located in the Sala de Exposiciones Aulario in Nuevos Ministerios.

Also being organised is a program of cultural events and lectures at various public places such as the Prado Museum Auditorium, the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts, Casa de America, the Circle of Fine Arts, the Museum of the City and the Madrid Parliament, among others.

The Espacio Tower, as an emblematic work selected from among twenty others, will receive four visits on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 March, organized to allow the visitors to see its uniqueness.

The event will be widely covered by the media, with Telemadrid covering the event planned for each day, and will broadcast a special feature on the night of Tuesday 8 March.
