OHL Industrial and Sener will build a second co-generation plan for the CYDSA group in Mexico

January 28, 2015

OHL Industrial and the engineering and technology group SENER have signed a turnkey agreement with CYDSA to build a co-generation plant in Mexico. The CYDSA Group operates in the products and chemical specialties sectors- a field covering the intended co-generation project-, as well as services for the energy industry and spinning for the textile industry.

This is the second plant that OHL Industrial and SENER will carry out as a joint venture for this important Mexican business group, after being awarded a first plant of similar characteristics in 2012. This also involved a turnkey project at the time, which was subsequently extended with a facility O&M agreement.

The new co-generation plant will produce 60 MW, like the previous one, and will be located in the same precinct, in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. It will include a Trent 60 aeroderivative gas turbine, Rolls Royce brand, and a HRSG able to generate 65 tons of steam/hour.

The agreement will be executed over a thirteen-month period, and the joint venture estimates that approximately 700 jobs will be created during the construction stage. As in the earlier project, OHL Industrial and SENER will be in charge of basic and detailed engineering and will take part in the stockpiling, construction and commissioning of the facility until its turnkey delivery to the client.

This award is a further example of CYDSA’s trust in the Spanish joint venture, which it acquired during construction of the first plant, as the Mexican company eventually hired OHL Industrial and SENER for comprehensive O&M of the facility during its first years of operation.
