August 19, 2019

OHL Servicios will be one of the companies responsible for the new lighting in the Spanish city of León, thanks to the contract obtained for its specialized business line Maintenance and Energy Efficiency. The project has a duration of 10 years and a budget of nearly 21 million euro and includes, among other activities, the replacement of more than 20,000 points of light and 210 electrical panels. In addition, a lighting control and management system will be implemented during the first months of service; and the maintenance of all infrastructure and the supply and management of energy throughout the contract.

It is important to mention, within the framework of the contract, the reduction of light pollution thanks to energy savings -more than 75 percent in electricity consumption- that will be provided by the installation of LED technology, replacing traditional lighting. Also the reduction equivalent to around 4,500 t/year of CO2 emissions due to the decrease in the consumption of MWh/year, which will go from almost  17,000 to 4,026 MWh/year. It should be noted that the light quality of the city will improve, especially in areas such as old town.
