Their Majesties the King and Queen presided the inauguration of the “Rey Juan Carlos” University Hospital, constructed by OHL

Imagen del Hospital de MóstolesOn 21 March, Their Majesties the King and Queen Juan Carlos and Sofía presided the inauguration of the “Rey Juan Carlos” University Hospital, a hospital constructed by OHL on a 65,000 m2 plot. This new public hospital in Móstoles is part of a public health network and was conceived to assist approximately 180,000 citizens in the municipalities of Móstoles, Pelayos de la Presa, Navalcarnero, Aldea del Fresno, Cadalso de los Vidrios, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Villa del Prado, Navas del Rey, Villaviciosa de Odón, Villamantilla, Cenicientos, Rozas de Puerto Real, Sevilla la Nueva, Villamanta, Villanueva de Perales, Chapinería, Colmenar del Arroyo and El Álamo.

This new hospital infrastructure, ascribed to the Rey Juan Carlos University, with an approximate constructed surface area of 95,000 m2, has 260 single rooms and 10 operating theaters, 47 outpatient services, 32 examination rooms, 78 emergency points, 12 dialysis points, 10 day hospital points, 21 X-ray rooms, 10 neonatology positions and 18 Intensive Care Units (ICUs).

The hospital project was executed by Rafael de la Hoz and its structure focuses on the functionality and wellbeing of its health professionals. Furthermore, its unique architectural design integrates light, silence and aesthetics as part of the patient’s recovery process.

As well as Their Majesties the King and Queen Juan Carlos and Sofía, the inauguration event also convened Esperanza Aguirre, president of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Javier Fernández Lasquetty, Minister of Health for the Autonomous Community of Madrid, and Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, president of OHL, amongst others.

OHL has become an international reference in hospital construction and is exporting its experience in this field. It is currently executing the Sidra Medical Research Center in Doha (Qatar) and the Montreal University Hospital in the province of Quebec (Canada), two of the largest projects in terms of hospital infrastructures.
