OHL, present at the IX Infrastructure Sector Meeting

OHL has taken part in the IX Infrastructure Sector Meeting, under the claim Current Situation and Prospects for the Transport Infrastructure Sector, which gathered Spain’s leading companies in this field in order to discuss the current and future situation of the sector. The event, held in Madrid, was attended by Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, Chairman of the Group, on behalf of OHL, as well as Josep Piqué, Vice Chairman and CEO, Juan Osuna, CEO of OHL Concesiones, and Ignacio Botella, General Manager of OHL Construcción. The meeting was brought to a close by Ana Pastor, Minister of Public Works.

Ignacio Botella, along with Yolanda Gómez Río, Head of Economics at ABC newspaper; Fernando Ruiz, Chairman of Deloitte, and Antonio Moreno, Chairman of Alstom España, participated in the welcoming and presentation of the event. During part of this inaugurating act, the General Manager of OHL Construcción highlighted the contribution made by OHL and construction companies to infrastructure development, as a source of income, wealth and employment.

The IX Infrastructure Sector Meeting was articulated around various round tables, where a discussion was held on opportunities and challenges, financing models in the current economic scenario and prospects for the concessions sector in terms of public-private ventures, amongst other matters. OHL was represented by Ignacio Botella and Juan Osuna on two of these tables, respectively entitled Opportunities and challenges on national and international infrastructure markets and Prospects for the concessions sector and opportunities for public-private ventures.

During his speech, Ignacio Botella pointed out the Administration’s role in enabling infrastructure investments and the necessary legislative devices. Furthermore, with respect to expected growth in construction activity and the estimates- suggesting an increase in world activity- the General Manager of OHL Construcción pointed out that Spanish companies are able to take on any infrastructure project anywhere in the world.
In turn, Juan Osuna referred to OHL Concesiones’s position on the transport infrastructure market and, more specifically, in the road sector, referring to its committed consolidation in the American continent, from Canada to Chile and particularly in Mexico, without overlooking other potential markets.
